Character Incentives

Last Updated: 11.27.2016

This page notes current XP incentives available for new characters. A new character will receive the adjustment to their starting XP received in the last stage of Character Generation, though each character is only eligible for one incentive.

Note: In the event of a more recent +bbpost by staff on +bboard 23, those incentives supercede these.

Quick Reference
  • Political Characters: Bonus highly dependent on concept and what political role a player wishes to take. Please feel free to discuss with Staff
  • Azzalle: +30 for any noble character in Azzalle
  • Camlach +30 for any noble character in Camlach
  • Naval Officers: We are currently short one Admiral of the Navy and may be able to use other seasoned naval veterans (or shiny new recruits) in some upcoming plot. Please only go for this if you enjoy combat occasionally and are willing to participate in storylines that might take you off the main grid for small chunks of time. (Got places to sail and all that). Characters who write up Naval backgrounds and seek to fill this gap will get a +30. Someone rolling up the Admiral might get more.
  • Foreign Ambassadors": +30 for any Foreign Ambassadors, and additional xp if they are highly political as definited in our first incentive this month.
Azzalle

Bonus: +30 for any noble character from Azzalle

  • This applies to both social and political characters.
  • All social characters will have the opportunity for politics occasionally if they chose it
  • Political characters from Azzalle may also get bonuses under the 'political characters' incentive
Camlach

Bonus: +30 for noble characters from Camlach

  • Social characters are eligible for the bonus (they will always have opportunity for politics)
  • Strategy/Combat characters are elligible for this bonus (They too will have opportunity for politics)
  • Politically focused characters are elligible for this bonus and an additional one under the 'political characters' incentive
Naval Officers

We are currently short one Admiral of the Navy and may be able to use other seasoned naval veterans (or shiny new recruits) in some upcoming plot.

Ambassadors

This kind of goes hand in hand with the 'political characters' of number one, but very specifically we are looking for foreign Ambassadors to allow for more politics rp that incorporates more of what is going on outside TdA (Though the storylines will always be about how those things /effect/ TdA essentially. To play a Foreign Ambassador you want to have spent either some time on the MU* to get a feel for the larger game world, or to have read at least some of the books so you are aware of what the foreign culture you'd be representing values and the cultural norms you'd want to incorporate into rp. We have several of these pregenned for those who'd like a sheet custom built to work in this position, but we also welcome players to create their own visions. Presently only Menekhet and Aragonia are filled by active PCs, so anything else on the list is if not up for grabs than up for discussion and most are up for grabs! Taking an ambassador gets you a +30, plus whatever political bonus you'd get from your goals and plans for the PC.

Age

Bonus: +40 XP

Anyone rolling up a char who is 47 years of age or older gets bonus xp based on their 'life experience' (and in thanks for adding some age diversity to our court.)

Not Wanted

Currently the following concepts are restricted or will not be approved, due to current IC conditions, roleplay, or suitability for theme.

  • Foreign/Half-Foreign Characters: We've had a large number of these come through CG recently, relative to the number of d'Angelines. If you absolutely HAVE to play a foreign character concept that is not a diplomat, please contact staff before entering CG for discussion.
  • Half-Tsingani: None will be approved at this time.
  • Noble Courtesans: Courtesans born to noble houses, rather than commoners or other courtesans, are fairly common. If considering a political concept, extra smiles will be reserved for an ambitious non-noble courtesan or a noble who isn't a servant of Naamah. Additionally characters who were courtesans and have now inherited titles are not being accepted at all.
  • Royal Courcels: Any royal links must be approved through Asherat, and are currently restricted.
  • Young Specialists: Character concepts that revolve around being very well-trained or highly skilled or that have otherwise mastered something are now required to have some actual age and experience to match.
